3D Christmas Trees

I can’t take credit for this idea as this is something the kids did at play group. I just wanted to share, as it’s such a quick and easy Christmas craft that it’s a shame not to pass on the love. We’re so lucky that we have a lovely baby and toddler group close to us that has a great set of parents that go along. The ladies that run it do an amazing job keeping us all fuelled with tea, and the kids entertained with some fantastic activities.

This particular week was the turn of some wonderful Christmas trees.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Some green card – cut into the shape of 3 Christmas trees
• Some stickers and shapes to use as decorations – think gems, stars and coloured shapes
• Glue – pritt stick is perfect for this

You should have three pieces of card cut into Christmas tree shapes. Make sure your trees have a wide stand along the bottom to provide stability to the finished result. Before you start, you just make sure you fold them in half down the middle before you start as this will make the final step a lot easier. Flatten back out and then, all you literally need to do is decorate the 3 trees making them as colourful as possible. Stickers are a great idea for this or use the glue to stick on bright shapes.

What you should be left with are 3 trees all beautifully decorated ready for Christmas. Which, depending on the age of your child has varying degrees of success and stickiness. Even Henry at 16 months enjoyed this part, though trying to convince him to leave the decorations on the tree once he stuck them on, rather than pulling them right back off was a bit of a struggle.

The final part is just putting it all together. Reinforce the fold down the middle of each tree and then add plenty of glue to the back of each one. Place half of tree 1 against half of tree 2 and then the other half of tree 2 to half of tree 3, then the other half of tree 3 comes back around to stick to the other half of tree 1.

I have no idea of that makes sense but what you basically get is a 3D tree with 3 sides.

And that’s it. Simple as really.

This is a really cute activity that’s quick and easy to do, and fairly mess free. Especially if you forgo the glue and just use stickers! Perfect if you have an hour to spare and would like a little bit of festive fun. Or maybe if you’re missing a homemade centre piece for the table…..or on second thoughts, maybe the grandparents table instead!
