How to Read More in 3 Simple Step
You may have noticed that the amount of book reviews over the past months have increased, a little because of my 2018 book challenge but mainly quite simply because I am reading more. One thing I have started to be asked is how do I find the time to read.
I haven’t found an extra 5 hours in the day, nor have I managed to freeze time. I haven’t given away a child or run away to find time to read. I have just made 3 very simple changes.
NUMBER 1 – READ EVERY DAY
I made a resolution to read every day and that is exactly what I am doing. Regardless of what time I go to bed, every night I read at least one chapter. Yes, sometimes it’s that late and I’m that tired that I have to re-read that same chapter the following day, but it keeps me in the habit of reading each night. It also had the added bonus that when I’m not loving a book, it still keeps me moving through it rather than going into a reading lull.
NUMBER 2 – PUT DOWN YOUR PHONE
I’m sure everyone has been there. You pick up your phone to quickly check what’s app, and before you know it you’ve dissapeared down a tunnel of social media for a few hours. Evenings dissapear and before you know it, you’ve got nothing done. These days, the only time I spend on social media and my phone is when I am working. Yes, that’s still a lot of time, but nothing like it was before. That extra time adds up to hours a week which I now spend with my nose stuck in a book.
NUMBER 3 – TURN OFF THE TV
Another thing I was guilty of was sitting in front of the TV and watching things I never actually wanted to watch. How many time’s have we all said there is nothing on TV only to find a film on a random channel that you’ve watched a thousand times before. Now, unless there is something specific I want to watch, I read instead. The exception is when I am working though, as I like background noise so manage to watch a wide assortment of crap during that time!
And that’s it. Nothing revolutionary and nothing surprising. However, making these 3 small changes every day means that in 3 months I’ve managed to read 18 books this year. Impressive considering I only managed about 5 in the whole of 2017. And do you know what? I’m loving it. I’ve always been a big reader and I’ve really enjoyed falling back in love with books this year now that the kids are that little bit older.
However, you may have noticed that has meant a HUGE increase in book reviews. That is not what this blog was ever designed to be therefore my little book club section of the blog is moving over to www.tippytuppsreads.wordpress.com. That will be a dedicated place for me to indulge my love of the written world until my heart’s content without switching off those of you are here for everything I write relating to parenting and lifestyle. So, if you enjoy that aspect of the blog, then I would love for you to go over and have a look. Feel free to subscribe via email so you don’t miss any reviews as they are published, or follow on WordPress if you are a member. I am really looking forward to getting involved in the book blogger community and getting to know all of my fellow bookworms!!
What about you? Do you like to read? Where do you find the time in the day to indulge?

Yeah, sometimes I have to miss a day as life just gets in the way sometimes.

Yes to all of these! My biggest struggle of the 3 is setting my phone down. I am addicted to the internet. I wish I could say I wasn’t, but I am! Glad you have made time to start reading! ❤️

Great tips here. I would love to be able to get back into reading more – will have to remember this next time I pick up a book.
