Bringing Memories to Life with Love Wood Prints (plus GIVEAWAY)
It’s no big secret if you know me that I love photography. I fell in love with it as a teenager when I first discovered darkroom photograpy and has only grown over the years. It’s not unusual for me to add up to 1,000 new photos to my flickr account each month, enjoying capturing moments through my lens.
What I hate though, is that often those moments stay trapped in a virtual album, very rarely being seen by anyone but me. I’m always on the lookout for a new way to bring my prints to life and was very excited when Love Wood Prints got in contact to invite me to take a closer look at their products.
WHO ARE LOVE WOOD PRINTS?
Love Prints Wood are UK based company who provide a service to print your photographs onto wood. They don’t print onto paper and mount it, nor do they glue or heat transfer an image onto wood. Instead what they do is literally print your image(s) directly onto sustainibly farmed birch plywood.
What makes that unique is the effect you get with your image. The natural grain and blemishes of the wood blend into the image, creating a special one of a kind print. Each print comes with its own in-build wooden stand. This gives you the option to hang your print or display it on a unit or table.
LOVE WOOD PRINTS – OUR THOUGHTS
I love this effect. I specifically chose an image I love of my husband and our children while we were on holiday in the South of France earlier this year. It’s a typical scene for us: my hubands arms full as he explores the beach with our children while I drink the image in through my lens. When I look at it I am transported back to that moment on the beach with the sun on my shoulders and my heart full of love for my little family.
That’s what good photography does. The image doesn’t have to be perfect, but it should put you back in a moment. What Love Prints Wood has done is given that image depth and texture. I love the grain and how it shows through with the natural texture of the material. A framed photo behind glass can create distance. It will still transport you to a moment but as a spectator, literally looking at it through glass. Now don’t get me wrong, I have a house full of framed photos and art that I LOVE. That will not chance and I will not stop adding to them. But I have discovered through Love Wood Prints that a wooden print has a different feel to it; a texture and draws you in and feels substantial in your hands.
I know, I know – I must sound like an emotional photographer; empathically selling the emotion of art. I guess that’s what I want to do. I want us all (myself included) to rescue our favourite photos from our phones and our cameras and put them on display in various ways.
