Knitting kit: the Knit Kit Company challenge (and giveaway)
AD | review
A little under 2 months ago The Knit Kit Company set me a little challenge to complete a knitting kit. Now if you follow the blog then you will know that I LOVE knitting and adore a knit kit. Being able to create beautiful things for my family and friends gives me the warm and fuzzies. The catch with this particular challenge though was that I needed to bring my husband along for the ride.
WHO ARE THE KNIT KIT COMPANY?
Specialising in contemporary knitwear that you knit yourself, The Knit Kit Company help people learn now to knit using thoughtfully put together knitting kits.
British based, The Knit Kit Company is a small business filled with passionate people. With a wide selection of products available from hats to blankets and from scarves to ponchos there are options to suit everyone’s skill level and budget.
OUR KNITTING KIT
We were sent the Fala Pom Pom Hat kit – the friendship set to be exact. Each knitting kit contains beautiful merino yarn, smooth bamboo needles, a clear and easy to follow pattern as well as anything else you may need such as a darning needle. All this is packaged in a fabulous Knit Kit Company project bag.
I loved this knitting kit. It is really easy to follow, and the wool is beautiful. The chunky weight and 10mm needles meant that it knitted up lovely and quick.
As for hubby….well I won’t lie, I don’t think he will be knitting anything else in the future. He managed to follow the pattern easy enough which is a great indication of how easy they are to follow, but he didn’t settle into the easy rhythm that I find while knitting. I tried to assure him that it came with practice, but he didn’t seem convinced.
For me though, I find knitting incredibly relaxing and I love the sense of pride you get when you create something really lovely. There is no doubt that knitting is my happy place. When things get stressful and I feel overwhelmed, there isn’t much that the click of needles doesn’t calm.
THE KNIT KIT COMPANY KNITTING KIT – OUR THOUGHTS
But enough about the benefits of knitting and back to the Knit Kit Company.
This is a great kitting kit to learn with. With easy to follow instructions and beautiful, quality materials you get a really lovely item along with the sense of achievement from creating it yourself. I love that this is an experience which allows you to create something for yourself or as a gift for other people. With Christmas just around the corner, a knit kit would be a great gift for experienced knitters and beginners alike.
The materials are ethically sourced and of a really lovely quality. The colours are beautiful and there’s a great range of choices in each of their kits. As Knit Kit Company themselves say, it’s time to “shun fast fashion and plastic fibres: start living slow.”
Now I’d love to say we managed to keep hold of our hats but I have two little Bears that had different ideas on the matter! And as for that bag….I just love it! It’s my new favourite bag to use when knitting on the go.
