On a Treasure Hunt with Tactic Games (+ giveaway) | AD
My two have always loved pirate fancy dress, so much so that the Bear even had a mermaid and pirate party for her last birthday. One thing that they love is a good treasure hunt. So, when Tactic Games offered to send us their Treasure Hunt game to keep us occupied during lockdown, my two were desperate to get started.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
Each pack contains the following:
- 24 wipe clean boards (12 indoor and 12 outdoor settings)
- 100 colour cards
- whiteboard marker
- 6 hessian clue bags
- 1 treasure bag
- 1 treasure coin
- Instructions
HOW TO PLAY
Draw, write or mark the clues on the wipe clean boards. You can even add colour cards to add more clues. For example, circle the plants on the outdoor boards and add some yellow clue cards if you place them next to sunflowers. You get the idea.
With 6 bags (plus a 7th to hide your treasure in), you can send the kids on a hunt all around your garden or house with each clue guiding them to the next bag until they find the treasure at the end.
The only criticism I would have is that there is only 1 treasure coin, which isn’t great when you have more than one child hunting. This is very easily fixed though by adding a few chocolate coins into the bag too. Trust me, it will save arguments!! Just be sure to take out the original coin if you think little ones will mistake it for chocolate though.
Before long, it was Darcie who was setting the clues for us. As what is nice about this hunt is that the cards can be simply pictures which means that she can easily get involved with hiding the bags without getting frustrated. A definite plus in our house!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
The kids absolutely loved this and have already come back to it time and time again. Where it used to just be me drawing our treasure maps, to be able to use the wipe clean clue boards are a real time saver.
I really liked that this hunt works both indoors and outdoors. Most kits are designed for outside and therefore don’t work as a rainy day activity. Whereas this one lets us mix things up. I also like how adaptable it is with space to write clues if you want to. Or – if your little ones can’t read yet – just stick to the pictures. The fact that the kit can grow with your child’s ability and development is a definite bonus. Especially given how easily they can become the pirates hiding the treasure and leaving the clues for me to find.
