Bright Fairy Friends Mermaids | AD
Picture this. A little girl – aged 7 years old – who is fairy obsessed. However, add in anything that is cute and colourful too and you’re on to a winner. Throw in a mermaid and you have the hattrick of little girl dreams. Enter Bright Fairy Friends.
This range launched last year, and they are already on their 3rd series with the Bright Fairy Friends mermaids. There are 12 dolls to collect and in our jar, we unveiled Star. With bright yellow hair and a fabulously contrasting tail, the Bear was thrilled.
Checking out what’s outside
So, first off, I need to talk about the packaging. With two young children, there is simply no way we can avoid plastic in their toys. However, as a parent that is trying to make positive, sustainable choices, I really appreciated when a toy manufacturer thinks about making the packaging a part of the play experience.
There is no doubt that Funrise have done exactly that as the Bright Fairy Friends jar is also their home. Beautifully themed in a glittery blue colour, it goes one step future with motion activated lights built into it. I love that it also has a room light mode setting which provides 20 minutes of twinkling which makes it a great nightlight too.
Opening the jar
There is more than just a doll included in this rather special jar though. Each Bright Fairy Friend comes with blind bags containing BFF accessories (in our case a brush, a seahorse sponge and a message in a bottle), a special stand to display your doll and a set of stickers that the Bear immediately started using to decorate her new friend’s home.
The surprises aren’t finished though, as wet the seahorse sponge and gentle wet your mermaids’ wings for a special colour change reveal.
What we thought – Bright Fairy Friends
This toy checks so many boxes for my particular 7-year-old. Fairies (check), mermaids (check), cute (check), bright and beautiful (check), surprise element (check), colour activated element (check), water play (check), a home to use in real world play (check), night light (check).
At £13, I like how affordable these are. Especially considering how many elements of play are included in one little jar. I also really appreciate how much thought has gone in to ensuring as much of the packaging is used as part of the playable toy. Bravo.
