Getting building with K’Nex
My two love building things, especially the boy. So, when we got the chance to have a play with some of the K’Nex starter sets, I knew that he would love it. What I didn’t know is how much the Bear would enjoy it too!
WHAT WE WERE SENT
We were incredibly lucky that the team sent us a few of their starter sets to have a play with. In the past we have purchased and reviewed some of their build sets such as the K’Nex K-Force Battle Bow, but this is the first time we’ve tried out some of their free play sets and I have to say it was an absolute success.
We were sent the K’Nex Classics 125 piece, 10 model beginner builds and the K’Nex Classics 350 piece, 20 model set. Both have a massive amount of pieces to explore and construct with but also some really great instructions if you did want to follow a guide.
The fact that K’Nex works on two levels is one of the things we love most about it, as children can follow the manual or use their imaginations to build their own creations.
LET’S GET BUILDING WITH K’NEX
We have been massive fans of K’Nex since we first came across it as we love the fact that most of the pieces are constructed flat before then clicking together to make a 3D shape. You can literally see the little connections being made in their minds as they build.
When we first reviewed K’Nex last May, at 4 years old the Boy needed a lot of support with putting his models together. However, less than a year later and it was amazing to see him just push on himself and figure out when he needed to do. Starting with simple 2D shapes before moving on to more complex 3D designs. The simple “click” technology means that this is great, even for little hands.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
You’ve probably already noticed that we’re big fans of K’Nex and these beginner construction sets are a great option if you’ve never come across it before. With both free play options and plenty of models to build, there is something to suit everyone.
It does all the usual amazing things you would hope a construction set brings such as hand-eye coordination, fine motor and problem-solving skills but with a fabulous dash of imagination and fun too!
K’Nex is available to buy now at John Lewis.
DISCLOSURE: we were sent the K’Nex K-Force Battle Bow for the purpose of this review. As always though, all thoughs and opinions are our own.
