Setting Up the Perfect Study Space for Your Child
This is a collaborative post. Thank you for supporting the posts which make this blog possible.
As your child moves into their final years at school, they will have more workload than they would have done before. They will be expected to stay on top of revision as well as homework which requires concentration and the right environment for that. To set up the perfect study space for your child, there are a few things that you will need to consider. Here are some that were shared with us by a girls’ school in Amersham.

Consider Light and Tone
Colour affects our mood and the way that we feel. Dark spaces are less likely to motivate us to work while bright spots are. To maximise your child’s productivity, look for an area of the house that gets a lot of natural light and paint it in a neutral or energetic colour.
Devices
Social media is designed to make you procrastinate. It’s a fact. The platforms are made in a way that gets you to spend longer on them. Before you know it, you’ve spent almost an hour watching funny cat videos and have not gotten a single thing done. While devices can help them with their studying, try and limit what they have in their study room so that they have the essentials that they need for their google searches and assignments. That means stripping back to just a computer.
Sound
You should also opt for a sound proof space where noises from the other end of the house cannot be heard. If not possible however, you can look for other means of reducing noise like sound cancelling headphones. These methods will help your child to stay focused without getting distracted by whatever else is going on around them.
Organisers
Organisation is key for success. It can help you to keep everything in order, work towards your goals and not move backwards after losing important things. To help, you can stock your child’s study space with binders, calendars, and sticky labels so that everything has a known place.
