Journal Prompt 2024 – 1/52 | My Word for the Year
One of my (many) goals for 2024 is to write more. It could be an article, a story or a poem but I just want to get back into the habit of writing every day. That means this space should be getting a little busier as I try hard to carve out some time in my week to dedicate to it.
One way I am going to try and do that is to follow a weekly journal prompt and do something creative with it. The Journal Prompt Newsletter delivers three ideas to your inbox every week, and I will hopefully be inspired to write something from at least one of them. This week I’ve chosen:
Prompt #3 – Your Word for the Year
I love the thought of word of the year and have been giving this a lot of thought since the prompt arrived in my inbox on January 1st.
When I look back on 2023 – although it may not have started out that way – the unofficial word for our year became survive. Last year was a year we are happy to close the door on and hope it is something that we will never have to repeat. Poor health in our family, topped with some decisions that impacted our mental health and the daily grind that just wore just us down and 2023 became something we just had to get through.
Don’t get me wrong, there were some amazing moments that we enjoyed. Our new caravan and a trip to Legoland in Billund were particular highlights but overall we most certainly survived 2023 rather than thrived during it.
In fact, thrive was going to be my 2024 word. However another one stuck me instead.
Revive
…give new strength or energy to…
- I want to revive our love of being outside and get more active as a family.
- I want to revive my habit of writing every day and become more consistent.
- I want to revive my love of photography and become more creative with it.
- I want to revive this little corner of the internet and actually use it.
If we left 2023 feeling rather “meh” then revive feels like the right word to drive more energy and motivation into my life to make for a better 2024.
