MELI & MAC: RENDEZ-VOUS WITH A FLAMINGO
AD | Book Tour – it’s no secret that my kids are book worms too, just like their mama which means that we were all so excited to hop on the UK book tour of Meli & Mac: Rendez-Vous with a Flamingo. That included me when I had a flick through and saw how beautiful it looked!
THE BLURB: ABOUT MELI & MAC
“It’s expedition o’clock!” cries Mac, putting down his French book.
“Expedition Supervisor ready!” replies his sister, Meli.
Adventure isn’t far away when they stumble across a lost flamingo who speaks French. Can they help Freddie find his way to the flamingo festival of the year? Join Meli and Mac for some flamingo fun in Serendipity Forest-and use the translation guide to learn a little French along the way! Get ready for an expedition of a lifetime with the first book in the Meli & Mac series!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
I love how it explores new language skills and the differences between us set against illustrations which are are just beautiful. I was also impressed that the vocabulary is actually fantastic, both the French and the English! Visually engaging for younger readers, it also has some tricky words to keep the independent readers attention. Magnificent, Serendipity and Shrimp Extravaganza all come to mind!
With some lovely memorable characters, both boys and girls will enjoy this story which introduces French vocabulary to its readers. However, this is at an introduction level only and no previous knowledge is needed to enjoy the story.
Written by Elena Joannides and illustrated by Margherita Ende, I originally thought that Meli & Mac would be for younger readers only but now we’ve enjoyed the story together, I think independent readers will get a lot out of it too. My two certainly did!
Meli & Mac: Rendez-Vous with a Flamingo is available to buy now on Amazon.
