Bloodlust Bites by Luanne Bennett
AD | book tour – it wasn’t that long ago that I was reviewing Bloodlust Blues by Luanne Bennett which I absolutely loved. So, when the opportunity came up to do the same for book two in the series – Bloodlust Bites – I couldn’t wait to jump back into Crimson to see what Charley and the rest of the Stag team had been up to.
THE BLURB
Welcome to Crimson, Georgia. I’m Charley Underwood—witch, bar owner, and accidental demon hunter.
Crimson isn’t a regular town. With vampires, shifters, and humans living side by side, tensions always run high. I try to keep the peace, and most of the time nobody gets hurt. Most of the time.
Right now, Crimson is one bite away from all-out chaos.
A dangerous new wolf is stirring up trouble. A sexy vampire is on the hunt, with a gun full of sunlight bullets. And thugs from Atlanta are threatening my friends.
As if that wasn’t enough, my magic is running wild. One second it’s throwing bad guys through windows, the next it fizzles out to nothing. There’s only one way to get it under control—by taking lessons from Crimson’s terrifying old-school coven of witches.
I need to get a handle on it fast. Way out in the woods, someone is attacking young women, leaving them bitten and bloody. Is it a stranger or one of our own?
When police pin the attacks on one of my bartenders, it’s clear that none of this is random. Someone is coming after me and the people I love.
I’ll do anything to protect my crew. Even strike a deal with a vicious old enemy.
Because when I see what I’m fighting against, it’s clear I need all the help I can get.
WHAT I THOUGHT OF BLOODLUST BITES
I really really enjoyed this one, just as much as book one in the series. In fact, I think even more. Charley is back, as sassy and stubborn as she was previously, and I absolutely love some of the secondary characters in this series such as Candy the retired pole dancing witch. I also love the fact that – despite the romance heating up for book two – friendship remains in at the centre of Charley’s world. And she really does have some kick ass friends! I did appreciate the addition of a little heat though as things between Charley and Samuel seem to go from 10 – 500 in the turn of a page but it’s certainly not an unwelcome development.
The pace is great in this series and we are thrown straight into the action which follows on from book one. This is the only drawback I could see, as I am not sure Bloodlust Bites would work as a standalone book which is sometimes possible with a series. The character building and action in Bloodlust Bites is built on the strong foundations from Bloodlust Blues, which is absolutely fine as both books are great reads!
Bloodlust Bites is available to buy on Amazon now and is currently just £1.99 for the kindle edition.
