Eve of Man by Giovanna and Tom Fletcher
What a book!! Set in the future, Eve of Man is a dystopian novel set in a future where Mother Nature has abandoned man and only one single female remains. Eve.
Now at 16 it’s time for her to do her duty and start producing girls to save the world. But…..what happens when she starts to see through the lies and questions everything she has ever been told.
THE BLURB
Against all odds she survived . . .
Eve is no ordinary sixteen-year-old. She lives alone in the Tower under the strict gaze of the Mothers, because she is the last girl on Earth.
Now it’s time for Eve to face her destiny.
Three males have been selected and the future of humanity lies in her hands.
She always accepted her fate. Until she meets Bram.
Eve wants control over her life. She wants freedom.
But how do you choose between love and the future of the human race?
EVE OF MAN – MY THOUGHTS
I really REALLY enjoyed this book. If you have read any of my other reviews, then you will know I love a dystopian romance but the Fletchers have brought something new to the genre.
It’s about love, friendship, family and duty. The pressure put on Eve’s young shoulders is immense and the level of manipulation on all levels and fight for power in the background gave this book a real dark edge. Bleak with a beautiful thread of hope woven throughout, Eve of Man kept me gripped as I followed both Eve and Bram’s stories.
I loved them both equally and was wholly in their corner throughout. The Mothers added a wonderful dimension though I would have loved to have seen a little more on Vivian and how she became the way she is. At the moment she feels a little 2 dimensional as a ‘villain’ so I feel there could be more to tell here. However, this is the first book of a trilogy so it may be on its way!
The language is accessible, and the story has a great flow that builds up layer on layer until ‘the kiss’ and from there everything unravels quickly, similar to pulling on a thread! It certainly kept me turning page after page. I read it in three sittings, and I can’t wait to finish the story with books 2 and 3 due for release in 2020.
You can pick up a copy of Eve of Man over on Amazon now and honestly – if you enjoy this kind of book then I definitely recommend that you do!
If you enjoyed this review then way not check out my other book recommendations.
