My Missing Daughter by Ellery A. Kane
AD | book tour – it’s no secret that autumn is my favourite time of year to curl up in the warm with a hot drink and great book. Something about a psychological thriller is just perfect for dark nights and the world outside starts to get colder. That’s just one of the reasons why I was so excited to hop on the book tour for Ellery Kane’s new book; My Missing Daughter. This is what I thought.
THE BLURB
It’s her first trip away. But she never came home…
The old camping bus pulls up outside my house in the middle of the night. Rain is pounding against the windows, thunder rattling, but I’d recognize the sound of the engine anywhere.
Confusion races through me. My daughter Willow and her best friend must be back early from their trip. I jump up and rush to meet them.
But when I pull open the door, it’s not Willow on the doorstep. It’s a man, holding her keys. Blood roars in my ears as he explains he was hired anonymously to drive it back.
My heart is pounding. I don’t understand. Where is my daughter?
I push past him and run out into the rain, wrenching the door of the bus open. It’s empty. The girls are gone.
And in the back, there are signs of a struggle. Clumps of Willow’s hair on the floor. Their belongings trashed. I stop breathing.
Where are they? What’s happened to my daughter? And churning in my stomach is the most terrifying question of all: What will it take to get her back?

WHAT I THOUGHT ABOUT MY MISSING DAUGHTER
My Missing Daughter is my first read by Ellery Kane and I have to say I was really impressed. I’ll definitely be checking out more of her books in the future.
I really enjoyed how varied the characters were. Tracy’s panic in contrast to Candice’s ice cold response, Amelia’s troubled nature juxtaposed against Willow’s girl next door vibe. With the differences between the girls so vast, it is easy to see how the distance grew in their time apart when they went to college.
The pace was great. Slow to start as the scene was set, but before you know it, there are twist and turns all over. The story provides plenty of options as to “whodunnit” and I really liked the little bits of social media slotted in to transition between Tracy’s perspective in the present, and Willows account of the road trip that her and Amelia and how things just went so wrong.
All in all, My Missing Daughter has a solid storyline, beautifully executed with plenty of twists and turns along the way. I managed to figure out early on what was going on, but the ending still managed to surprise me which was a nice little bonus!
My Missing Daughter was released on 8th October 2024 and is currently available on Amazon for £1.99 for the kindle edition. Bargain! (affiliate link).
