This is a collaborative post. Thank you for supporting the posts which make this blog possible.
Parenting is one of the most important jobs you will ever do, but it takes practice, and unfortunately, there is no instruction manual.
When you’re so eager to get it right, that stress and anxiety are understandable. The relationships that you have with your little ones are unique, so it’s important not to compare yourself to other parents – you’re doing better than you think you are!
If you’re looking to boost your caregiving confidence, then check out these five fantastic tips to get you started.

Take Time for Yourself
Making time for yourself is essential for any parent. As much as you love your kids, you need time away from them. When you practice better self-care, you’ll be a much more patient parent.
Carve out a little time to practice mindfulness and meditation. Mindfulness is the art of living in the moment – it means paying more attention to your body, your thoughts, and the world around you.
When you participate in mindfulness, you’ll do wonders at reducing your stress, and the lower your stress levels, the more confident your parenting will be.
Tune Out Bad Advice
So many people will have an opinion on your parenting, but not all of those will be qualified to give you advice – even the people in your family!
A lot of previously recommended advice has changed as medical and childrearing practices have evolved, so while your grandmother might mean well, don’t feel obligated to take her advice!
If you’re given advice that you don’t think sounds quite right, just smile, thank them, but stick to your gut.
Educate Yourself
From parenting classes to education courses, there are so many avenues you can go down when learning more about raising children.
Of course, returning to school yourself isn’t always easy when you’re trying to raise a family, but luckily there plenty of early years courses, such as those offered by Anglia Ruskin University, that you can complete as distance learning.
Distance learning is perfect for parents – you can set a study schedule that suits your individual commitments and learning needs.
Trust Your Instincts
No one knows your children better than you do, and by learning to trust your instincts you’ll gain real confidence in your judgement as a parent.
Take the time to give yourself pep talks, tell yourself that you’re a good parent, and that you know what you’re doing. The first step towards self-confidence is positive thinking.
Know Where to Look for Help
Even the most confident of parents will have questions and worries from time to time, and it’s important to have a reliable source of information for your answers.
The NHS website is a fantastic resource for your questions; when you have a reliable source of information for your queries, you’ll boost your own confidence as a parent.
