Easy Family Staycation Ideas
This is a collaborative post. Thank you for supporting the posts which make this blog possible.
The cost of living crisis, lingering pandemic worries, and airports packed to the brim have encouraged millions to holiday at home rather than going abroad this summer. If you’re used to overseas trips, this may not sound so fun, but the country is much larger than you think, and even the most nondescript villages have something special to offer. If you’re looking for a holiday that’s as fun as it is affordable, here are some easy family staycation ideas to consider.

A Day Out
If you’re too busy for a short break this summer, even a day out can be filled with fun. There are hundreds of activity centres dotted across the country which are suitable for everyone’s interests. From the National Space Centre in Leicester to the Eden Project down south, you’ll have no trouble finding something to entertain you.
Those who prefer to keep things cheap can simply pack up a lunchbox and take a trip into the countryside. The Peaks or the Lake District offer some of the most stunning sights, and it’s a great way to give your dog some exercise. However, due to the tricky trails, make sure you bring plenty of water and have dog insurance to give you peace of mind if they get too excited bouncing through the grass.
Camping
There are few things better than a camping trip with friends and family, especially if you live in the city or rarely get the opportunity to get out of the house. Although some kids (and even some adults) hate the idea of sharing a toilet and shower with strangers, they will quickly forget once you fire up the barbecue.
Many camping holidays also offer kids’ clubs, which gives adults the chance to do more demanding activities while the kids stay entertained. You can go for a weekend or even choose a glamping holiday if you want to enjoy a little luxury away from home.
Beach Break
Although the UK isn’t known for its pristine beaches as you’ll find in other parts of the world, they are still special in their own way. All over, you can find some of the best beaches for families that offer plenty of activities, including surfing or crabbing in rock pools.
The south arguably offers the best beaches, especially if you’re looking for plenty of space. However, you’ll still find something to enjoy in Northumberland if a journey down south is too long. Wherever you go, you can play games, indulge in some of the freshest food you’ll ever eat, or relax on the sand and enjoy the hot (but not too hot) sun baking down on your grateful face.
Less Cost, Same Fun Times
You don’t need to get your passport, spend hours on a plane, and enter an all-inclusive resort to enjoy your summer holidays. There is so much to do around the country that you’ll never run out of activities. Whether you prefer to get your feet dirty or spend some time relaxing on the beach with some traditional fish and chips, a staycation could be the most fun you’ve had in years.
