Helping Your Child Develop Strong Social Skills
This is a collaborative post. Thank you for supporting the posts which make this blog possible.
Social situations are unavoidable and to engage with the world around them, your child will need social skills. While they may be shy and timid, there are things that you can do to help your child out of their shell and become more socially adept. Practice is one of them. If your child’s not had prior exposure and the chance to meet new people, it may be a scary concept. As they do, they will become less nervous and learn how to make friends and engage in conversation. A great way that you can do this is by looking for local clubs and activity groups that they can join. Here are some tips from an education provider in London.

Talk To Them
If your child really struggles in social situations and doesn’t yet have the confidence to approach other children, you can start by having more conversations with them to help them feel more verbally confident.
Praise Them
Following on from the last point, there are many other ways in which you can help your child to build their confidence. Praise is a perfect example. It can help children to feel good about themselves and build their self-esteem. This can make them more willing to put themselves forward and meet new people.
Engage with Others
Children look to their parents as their role models. If you’re a reserved person that likes to avoid social situations, your child may pick up on it and adopt similar behaviours. It may be difficult but pushing yourself out of your comfort zone can help you to encourage your child to do the same.
Debating
Schools often have debate clubs which help children with their articulation, quick thinking, ability to listen and communicate effectively. By doing so, they develop confidence and the ability to deal with difficult social situations involving conflict.
