How to Encourage Your Child to Be Physically Active
This is a collaborative post. Thank you for supporting the posts which make this blog possible.
It’s important for parents to help encourage their children to have a positive attitude towards physically activity. The earlier you start, the more likely they are to adopt healthy behaviours towards their fitness, which will prevent various health conditions later down the line. Here are some tips to get you started from a private school in Guildford, just remember to stay safe!

Buy the Right Equipment
Many toys and games encourage sedentary behaviour, so try and refrain from buying these for your child if your plan is to encourage physical activity. Instead, look for things like skipping ropes, bikes and scooters, trampolines and other equipment that will help your child get up and about. Limit screen time where possible so that your child has to look for other ways to keep themselves occupied.
Encourage Hobbies
There are lots of hobbies that require physical activity, from tennis lessons or horse riding to drama club and dance. By encouraging your child to pursue these hobbies, they will get the desired amount of exercise each week while also developing a range of other skills.
Be a Good Role Model
Children learn from the people around them, so if they see you engaging in physical activity, they will more likely want to engage in it as well. Try and have a positive approach to exercise and wellness in general and your child will probably follow suit.
Explore the Great Outdoors
If you spend most of your family time indoors, your child won’t have enough opportunities to be physically active. With that said, try and spend more time exploring the great outdoors. Take a walk through the woods or along the seashore, go on a bike ride together, play catch or football in the garden, or go on a scavenger hunt in the park.
The idea is to try and make physical activity fun for your kids, rather than something boring or uncomfortable.
