Figure out what your child’s general interest are. It is difficult to determine exactly what your child would like to do as extracurricular or hobbies at a young age so asking them what their interests are is a good start. If it seems they have hobbies that touch or even have large relations to theatre, you may want to experiment with other areas of performing art productions.
If your child seems shy but shows a huge interest in theatre, give it a go and see how they get on. Theatre actually boosts a large number of skills from communication to resilience and helps develop a massive change in self-confidence. This will be a big change for them so the occasional push and a whole lot of support will be appreciated by your child.
Theatre school can allow your child to have a huge head start in their career if this is the route they want to take. Giving them the opportunity to take part in different areas that theatre offers will allow them to figure out what they enjoy and which direction they’d like to head in.
Your child can explore their social skills. Alongside maths, English and science which are core subjects, theatre offers a wide range of extracurricular activities that help develop further social skills. It gives a great insight into what your child may like to study further whilst building strong social and communication skills.
