5 Ways to Bring the Indoors Outside
This is a collaborative post. Thank you for supporting the posts that make this blog possible.
If you’ve been following the blog for a while then you will know that we’ve been trying to get our garden in order. Planting flowers, growing vegetables and generally getting it in tip top shape ready for summer. That’s not all though, as we’ve been looking at it in terms of whether it would be possible to use the space outside, to give us more space in the house.
One way of doing just that is by using summerhouses. Long gone are the days of dusty sheds as the amazing range of summerhouses available means there is a host of possibilities in bringing the indoors outside into your garden. I’ve been browsing through Scotts of Thrapston and GBC Group’s range of modern and traditional summerhouses for inspiration.
So, here’s my top 5 ways you can use a summer house to free up some space outside.
HOME OFFICE
When you start a family, the home office is often one of the first things to go. Taken and turned into a nursery or playroom, before you know it your home office has taken up residence back at the kitchen table or on your lap in the living room. This is where a summerhouse can really come into it’s own. Giving you room and space outdoors, not only creates a dedicated and productive space in which to work, but it also brings you closer to nature and therefore is beneficial to your wellbeing.
CRAFT ROOM
Speaking from experience, craft supplies can take up A LOT of room. Fabric, wool, buttons, bobbins and all those little bits and pieces soon add up. Not to mention room for a sewing machine, cutting table and any other craft goodies. I can guarantee one of the main things you will be missing is space. Put that dedicated space outdoors and before you know it, you have nature inspiring you too.
PLAY ROOM
One thing I am sure every parent can agree on is that children come with a lot of stuff!! Add in two toddlers all with their abundance of toys and precious things they just cannot be without, and before you know it you can’t take a step without falling over or stepping on something. (I’m dreading the Lego days when they arrive.) What better way to organise those things than to give them their own dedicated room….preferably outside!
STORAGE
Maybe the least interesting out of my top 5, but definitely the most practical way to bring the indoors outside is storage. A summerhouse is a great place to pack away all those summer things from the garden ready to hibernate for the winter. Think seats, tables, slides and swings. For all the things that will get dirty and potentially damaged during the winter, a summerhouse makes for the perfect solution to lock them away safely without having to take up valuable room in the garage or loft. You can browse summerhouses and garden buildings on websites such as Scotts of Thrapston for ideas that can used in your own garden.
SAUNA
Time for a little bit of fun….what about a sauna. Practical? No. But surely you’d be able to justify it based on the health benefits.
So, there we have it. My ideas for using a summerhouse to take the indoors out into the garden and free up a little bit of space inside. Some are fun, some are functional but one thing is for certain: a summerhouse would be a great place to curl up on a hot day, with a cold glass of wine and a good book!
