National Stationery Week 2019
I was gifted some stationery items as a thank you for participationing is this National Stationery Week campaign.
In a world that is becoming more and more technology driven, there is something a little bit special about putting pen to paper. I even keep a paper diary, much to the amusement of most people that know me. No matter how much I try though, I just cannot get on with a digital alternative.
Maybe it’s the childhood writer in me that still gets excited by a new pen. And even though I’m in my 30’s, I still try to keep the first page of a notebook neat and tidy. In fact, I may have been known to rip it out to start again if I make a mistake.
I love lists, pens and pencils, notebooks, post its, quirky paperclips and colourful books. I enjoy ticking things off a handwritten to do list and receiving happy post in the mail that isn’t a bill. That’s why I’m happy to be adding my little bit to National Stationery Week this year and saying that I too think that #WritingMatters.
WHAT IS NATIONAL STATIONERY WEEK?
Running from 29 April – 5 May 2019, National Stationery Week is a time to celebrate all things stationery. Think colourful pots, beautiful pens and stunning notebooks. The team behind National Stationery Week believe that #WritingMatters, and there is always time to put pen to paper.
Sponsored by Derwent, Ryman, Paperchase, Marple Stationery Supplies and the London Stationery Show (2019): this week has some big and beautiful stationery brands supporting it. Quite simply, the team behind the campaign want us all to get creative. Poems, stories, scripts, songs, illustrations, calligraphy and lettering. The possibilities really are endless.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Getting involved couldn’t be simpler. This is what the week looks like:
- Monday 29 April – #paperchaseloveslists
- Tuesday 30 April – #rymanlovespens
- Wednesday 1 May – # worldstationeryday
- Thursday 2 May – #takeanote
- Friday 3 May – #derwentfeelgoodfriday
- Saturday 4 May – #stationeryshopsaturday
- Sunday 5 May – #sendaletterday
All you have to do is create, and share!!
And if you don’t usually put pen to paper, then why not start today? Leave a handwritten note for someone you love. Write someone a postcard to surprise them in the post. Or even just leave yourself a few positive affirmations to look at during the day.
It’s amazing how much these little things can brighten someone’s day. Afterall, I really do think that #WritingMatters?
