5 Rainy Day Crafts For Kids
This is a collaborative post. Thank you for supporting the posts which make this blog possible.
As we all know, children can become a challenge on a rainy day. They get bored at the best of times, let alone when they can’t leave the house because of the rain. Add that to the fact that you don’t want them staring at a screen all day, there’s only so much TV they can watch. So, to keep everyone entertrained, here are 5 rainy day crafts for kids that they’ll love.
MESSY PAINTING
Painting is such a therapeutic activity, and you and your kids don’t need to be good at it to encourage them to do it. Let them get messy! It’s so much more fun than trying to keep things clean and in order. Let them use their fingers and hands to paint. See what they can come up with!
PASTA JEWELLERY MAKING
Jewellery making comes in many different forms, but pasta is possibly one of the easiest ways to make jewellery. Children can paint it then string it up to make necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. If your kids are a little older, you could even grab some beads and see how they get on.

SIGN MAKING
Perhaps your kids would like to make signs for their bedrooms: these signs could go on their walls or even on their doors! If you have a vinyl cutting machine, you’ll be able to make stencils which will make this much easier. Check out the vinylcuttingmachineguide best vinyl cutting machine to see what you can use. Once you have your stencils, let your kids create signs how they wish. They’ll love personalising their bedrooms with them!
MAKE A FAIRY GARDEN
Fairy gardens can make your garden seem like a much more magical place! You can include clay mushrooms, mini houses and doors, and anything else you like. Use things around the house to see what you can put together. You can make the fairy garden in a little tub if you wish, and then transfer it to the actual garden on a nicer day.
HOMEMADE GOO / SLIME
Making slime at home is seriously satisfying, and your kids will love playing with this for hours on end. There are lots of ways to make it, but here’s just one suggestion:
- Grab a bowl and mix 1 oz. glue (about ¼ of the glue bottle) and ¼ cup water. You can add food colouring to make it your desired colour.
- Add ¼ cup of Sodium Tetraborate (Borax) Solution to the glue and water mixture and stir slowly.
- You will begin to see the slime form straight away!
- Stir it as much as possible, and then need it with your hands until some of the stickiness goes away.
You will need to store the slime in a plastic bag in the fridge to make sure it doesn’t go mouldy.
And that’s it!! Which of these crafts will you try next with your kids? It can be difficult to keep them occupied on rainy days, but I hope that one of the above rainy day crafts for kids suggestions will help.
