Adding a touch of the exotic with coconut bowls and spoons (AD)
As the world – quite rightly! – shifts its focus to more sustainable and eco-friendly materials, we have been trying to do our bit too. The great news is that there are so many options available to us all now. Everything from food and drink all the way through to homeware beauty products. We were recently approached to take a closer look at these coconut bowls and spoons from Global 1st. Here’s what we thought.
UNIQUE
Each bowl is sourced from Thailand and handmade. Made from actual coconuts, the shells are upcycled and reused to created a bowl which takes on the natural design and pattern of the material.
I saw this with the set I was sent as one bowl was significantly lighter than the other three in the set. I like this about them as each one was a different shade and size, and with a unique pattern.
MULTI-PURPOSE
Now, these are clearly deisgned to be bowls and spoons. Coconut shells are strong and durable and most certainly up for the challenge. However, I thought they were just too pretty for that. So, I found a few different uses for mine.
As a planter
Any one who knows me, knows that I love plants. I usually have around 15 or so spotted around the house which means that I am always looking for pretty things to put them in. Enter my coconut bowl. I had a succulent that needed repotting and I thought that one of these bowls made a wonderful new home for it.
As storage
As a crafter I love a good bowl to keep things in. We are trying to make an effort to move away from plastic storage solutions, so I thought that these bowls would make a great alternative. To funk them up a little I dug out some acryllic paints I had left over and just added a splash of colour within each one.
