Bright Smiles with Brushbox
Every now and then I get a really interesting request to review a product I’ve never heard of before. One of those such products was a toothbrush and toothpaste subscription service called Brushbox. Yep you heard right! A subscription service for your teeth!! Now before you click away, hear me out as I think this is an amazing idea.
We have unusual kids in the they LOVE brushing their teeth, especially Henry. This means that we wear through toothbrushes at a pretty quick rate. They start to curl over the edges after around a month which is when I am told is past the point when they should be replaced. The issue is that I’m a bit of a nightmare at remembering to pick up new ones. I either have a big supply in the drawer from which to choose from, or I’m forgetting at the supermarket for weeks before I finally remember to pick up some new ones.
BRUSHBOX – THE SUBSCRIPTION
This is where Brushbox come in, every two months you receive through your letter box a new toothbrush for you and your family and all the toothpaste you need to last you until your box arrives.
I specifically wanted a sustainably option away from the usual plastic. Therefore, I was very excited to see alongside a very cool retro looking plastic option, not one but two bamboo toothbrush options. Something I have wanted to try for a long time but hadn’t been able to find on the high street.
We were sent the curved bamboo option with a two-month supply of toothpaste. I loved how stylish they looked, and they were very comfortable to hold. As always, the kids were VERY excited to be given a new toothbrush and spent the next 30 minutes wandering around the house while brushing their teeth on and off!
I loved how sustainable the packaging was too – cardboard box, paper filler, bamboo toothbrushes packed in cardboard and wrapped in paper, cardboard boxes for the toothpaste. In fact, the only plastic in the entire box was the tube for the toothpaste and the bristles for the brushes. Not a 100% but you know what, not bad considering we’re talking about toothbrushes here.
One thing I would say was that I would have preferred each toothbrush to be in a different colour. We were sent two adult toothbrushes in a green and black colour option, and two children’s brushes in a red and white. They may look great but it makes it very confusing to figure out which toothbrush belongs to which person in the morning. To help with this I’ve resorted to putting a spot of nail varnish at the bottom of two to make them easily identifiable.
Also, the kids really weren’t impressed with the taste of the toothpaste. It’s simply just too strong for little ones – or at least my little ones anyway – so you may need to still buy some mild toothpaste if you have younger children like we do.
Overall though, I think this is a great idea!
Not only does it take away the guess work of when you should change your toothbrush, but it also helps you to do this proactively. By the time the bristles of your current brush splays, bad bacteria would have already started to build. This way you can very easily update your brush before ever getting to that stage.
Hygienic, sustainable and stylish. What’s not to love?

It’s brilliant to use sustainable tooth care products. Am really limiting my use of plastics especially living a stone’s throw from the sea where we find small bits of plastic daily and clear it up.
