Slicing and Baking with Vremi – Review & Giveaway
Let me start by staying that I do enjoy cooking. I seriously think it would be difficult to parent without at least learning a few basics, heating food at the very least. However, I am not – and never will be – one of those people who spends 4 hours painstakingly preparing a meal that I can’t pronounce with 54 ingredients. I’m all about quick one pot meals that are simple and easy to make but still hearty and filling.
Therefore when the opportunity came up to test a few timesaver appliances in the kitchen, it sounded like a great idea. Things that were going to make preparing meals even quicker and easier? Now that sounded like my kind of cooking.
VREMI APPLE SLICER
First up we have the Vremi apple slicer. You may be thinking that does something that can be done with a knife really need it’s own gadget, and at first I thought the same thing. That is until I used it. After having it only a day I knew it was a keeper and I wondered what on earth I ever did before I had one. All those wasted hours chopping and slicing!
At the moment my kids are going through a real phase where they love apples. I don’t question these things – simply ride it while it lasts – but what it means is that I slice up 2 or 3 apples a day. Not a lot and not really a problem but then I used the apple slicer. It’s so easy!! Line it up, push down and boom, it’s done within seconds.
It’s not just apples either. With two additional attachments: one for mango and another which is perfect for cutting potatoes into chips, slicing carrots and cubing cheese. The handles are chunky and comfortable to press down on the the three interchangable blades are easy to change over and lock firmly into place.
VREMI NONSTICK SILICONE BAKING CUPS
Next up we have some Vremi Nonstick Silicone Baking Cups. These are something that I have looked at a few times as I love the fact that they are reusable and therefore a more sustainable solution when backing. For some reason I’d never gotten around to getting any so I couldn’t wait to give this a go. The opportunity came up last week as the kids and I had a little inpromptu baking session.
The Bear instantly loved the colours and immediately declared that all the pink ones were hers, the yellow ones her baby brothers, the blue ones daddy’s and the green mine. Where these really came into their own though is when she was spooning the mixture in. I’d never really considered it before but paper cases are a bit of a nightmare really as if hit off centre they just collapse with no change of repair. As these silicone cups are sturdy and hold their shape they withstood even a three year olds aim. Though I must admit they needed a little tidying before they were oven ready.
Overall though we both loved these. The Bear loved the colours, and then filling and eating from those said colours. Whereas I loved the fact that when we are done it is so easy to just clean them up ready and waiting for the next baking day.
