Back to Hogwarts with Harry Potter | AD
After 24 weeks at home, it seems strange to think that both my children will be heading back to school this week. We have a slow phased return to school starting on Thursday, which will see both Bears in school full time by the 9th September. After so long at home, it seems strange to think that this day will soon be here.
To get us in the mood to head back to school though, we were very kindly sent some fabulous Harry Potter goodies to head back to Hogwarts first. September 1st is a very important date in the wizarding calendar, as it’s the day that the students hop on the Hogwarts Express and head back to school, and this year we’ve been joining in!
Getting ready to head back to Hogwarts
Am I the only one who fell in love with Hedwig from the very first book? Well, now you can build your very own from LEGO®. Not only does this display model look beautiful, but turning the handle also makes the wings move!
Every new school year needs a mascot and these magic capsules contains one of our favourite characters from the Harry Potter series with the bronze Hogwarts crest.
The first compartment contains a crest which has a heat reveal as to what house your character belongs to and the second compartment contains a spell which is magically revealed in water. If you’ve not guessed who your character is yet, then the largest third compartment holds a bundle of parcels containing your character and all their accessories.
I love that these are all wrapped in paper which minimises the plastic wastage which comes with many blind bag toys on the market today.
Each character comes with a pet, a wand, two accessories and two clues. Luna Lovegood was hiding in our magic capsule and Darcie and I were both thrilled and are currently fighting for who gets to keep her!
Getting school ready
Now I love, love, LOVE this backpack and am not ashamed to say that I have claimed it for my own. (It helps that the kids only use book bags for school at the moment and not backpacks!)
Bright and beautiful, they let any HP fan show off their house with pride. Made from vegan materials, these bags are really spacious inside and can easily hold A4 documents with plenty of room to spare.
One thing that was briefly in my bag before being claimed by the Bear is this cute Harry Potter stationery set. It holds every everything you need for your first day of school including pen, pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener and ruler.
I love the classic Harry Potter decoration and tried to convince her to let me keep it but sadly she wasn’t convinced and she’s looking forward to showing it to all her friends and teachers when she’s back in school.
Time for lunch
How adorable is this lunch bag? With Harry, Hermione and Ron on the front, the Bear immediately fell in love with the cute characters on it. As a girl who as spent the last year with a mermaid lunch bag, it’s safe to say that the maids are back in the sea and have been replaced by wizards!
The best bit is that it even comes with a matching water bottle. Perfect for PE or Quidditch try-outs.
After school fun
Now that school is over for another day, it’s time to swap your school uniform for a Hogwarts cloak. These house robes are a replica of the ones from the films and comes complete with house scarf and crest.
Although a one size fits all, it’s actually a great standard size which is perfect for kids and will last them years of fun and make believe.
No robe is complete without a wand though, and these light painting wands are fabulous. With options of Harry’s, Hermione or the Elder wand to choose from, each one has a really bright LED which is lit using the hidden button on the handle.
They are incredibly bright, and the kids have taken to turning the living room lights off and dancing round with it to a downstairs disco.
It’s Harry Potter!
The final item in our Harry Potter bundle was Harry himself. These dolls are fabulously detailed, and I was impressed by how much it actually looked like Harry. Complete with removable wand and glasses, he’s ready to learn.
You can choose from Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Cho Chang or Hagrid (can you imagine how awesome the Hagrid doll will be?!).
Needless to say we are fully kitted out and ready to head back to Hogwarts and back to school too. I won’t lie, I have mixed emotions about it all but the Bear can’t wait to head back to show off her magical Hogwarts worthy back to school kit.
DISCLOSURE: we were sent these items for the purposes of this review. As always though, all opinions are my own.
