Getting the kids Bake Off ready with Nadiya | AD
It’s Bake Off time! And what better way to involve the kids than with Nadiya Hussain’s Bake Me a Story Deluxe Baking Set? We’re a big fan of cooking and baking together in this house. I am also a HUGE Nadiya fan (if you’ve not read her autobiography Finding My Voice yet, then do!).
I met Nadiya a few years ago when her Bake Me a Story book came out (I nabbed a signed copy…..squeeeeee). So, when I heard that she had a range of baking kits out aimed at getting kids into the kitchen, I was really excited to get a closer look.
GETTING INTO THE KITCHEN
My two love to bake because it’s messy and fun. Whereas I love the fact that they are learning through doing as we spend some much loved time together. Baking is proven to help children with their maths, reading, hand to eye coordination and of course helps to teach them important life skills. Plus, let’s not forget that you get some rather fabulously tasty treats at the end too!

There are three cooking set options to choose from in Nadiya’s Bake Me a Story range. Designed to introduce children to the wonderfully sweet world of baking or the savoury world of pastry, they aim to help children feel at home in the kitchen.
We were sent the Deluxe Baking Set to take a closer look at, and we couldn’t wait. Ready……steady…….bake!!

WHAT’S IN THE BOX?
The Deluxe Baking Set comes with:
- Silicone rolling pin
- Silicone whisk
- Mixing bowl
- Silicone spatula
- Silicone cupcake cases
- A sieve
- 3 metal cookie cutters with child safe silicone edge
- Measuring spoons
- Apron
- 6 baking recipes aimed at children

I especially love the fact that all the cooking tools were silicone. So, not only were they in bright and beautiful colours, but they were also soft to touch. Which – if you’re like me and have more than 1 child that like to hit each other – the softer option is a good one!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
We love this set. Not only did the kids immediately fall in love with it and demand that we get baking, but I love that this is a practical gift that we will use time and time again.

All the cooking tools are dishwasher safe and the silicone tested to LFGB food safety standards. I also liked that silicone was added to the metal of the cookie cutter. This not only makes them athetically pleasing but also safer for little fingers too.
The recipes were a lovely touch and Darcie is desperate to make the Mallow Cookies. So much so that the cupcakes we made together had to be topped with both melted and mini marshmallows!

As I meantioned, we’ve been familiar with the concept of Bake Me a Story since Nadiya’s book came out a few years ago and we love sitting down with a story before hitting the kitchen to bring it to life. I think the emotional connection Nadiya has to food and how inspiring that can be to children as they make the connection is a real gift and her passion for this shines through.
So, if you’re looking for a Christmas gift that is bright, beautiful and fun while also being practical, then this could be a great option for children of any age. In fact, with half term just around the corner, it would make a brilliant addition to your rainy day activities arsenal.
And you can win your very own!
