I’m going to start this review a little differently. Think of the toys from your childhood that have made the cut and followed you all the way to where you are now as an adult. It may be that none have gone the distance. However, if there are any that did, then I am pretty confident that many of them will be soft toys. I think the reason is that soft toys are a little different to other toys. The cars, dolls, dinosaurs and crafts are all played with throughout our childhoods and no doubt loved. However, soft toys are that little bit more special.

They are the toys that are cuddled in bed each night. The toys which are clutched onto for comfort. They are the toys that are confided in and secrets whispered to under the covers. The toys which are unwaiveringly there for the children that love them, and live with them in their arms and their imaginations. With that in mind I want to introduce you to Wilberry from The Puppet Company.

Ok, so I know I’ve gotten a little sentimental there but these are the kind of toys that Wilberry are. Once your child falls in love with them, I have no doubt they will form a part of their childhood. So, on to the review. Here’s what I chose for my two Bears.

WILBERRY FOR HIM

For Henry there was never a doubt as to what to choose. This boy is dinosaur mad at the moment so, when I spotted this Brontosaurus there was no doubt that he was the winner as he looks just like Arlo from his favourite film The Good Dinosaur. To keep him company, the team from The Puppet Company also sent along this stunning Triceratops, and they could not have found a happier recipient.

First of all, I loved the look and feel of these dinosaurs. The knitted effect gives it such a wonderfully retro look and feel. Beautifully designed, both soft toys are full of wonderful dino details and I love the colours chosen in the design.

It’s a simple fact that in our house all soft toys must be named thanks to a rather demanding 4-year-old. These two were quickly dubbed Bronco and Tops (don’t judge the names….I need to be able to remember them all!). At first I wasn’t sure how they would be embraced by Henry who doesn’t usually gravitate towards soft toys. I needn’t have worried though as they were very quickly inducted into the existing dino-pack.

I can genuinely say this little man loves Bronco and Tops. By day they are played with alongside his other dinosaurs and by night, they have a privileged spot in his bed along with Bear Bear his bedtime companion. I don’t blame him either. The materials used are lovely and soft making them wonderfully snuggly, however they have enough stuffing in them to stand robustly and take hands on play. And that’s a good thing too seeing as their new home is with a boisterous boy who loves nothing more than making his dinosaurs roar and fight one another!

WILBERRY FOR HER

Darcie on the other hand is completely different when it comes to soft toys. She loves nothing more than cuddling and snuggling with them. Whenever we leave the house we need to leave at least 5-10 minutes to allow time to choose who is coming with her. Looking through The Puppet Company website I knew immediately what to choose for Henry. For Darcie though it was a lot harder, as there were genuinely so many in the range that I know she would love. Finally, Mrs Rabbit emerged as the winner.

When she arrived, I knew I had made the right choice. She was the perfect cuddle consistency made with wonderfully soft fabric. I knew the fact she was dressed in a beautiful little summer dress would appeal to the Bear and I wasn’t wrong. She immediately received a serious number of cuddles and it was a few days until she let go.

Since then, she too has taken up residence in her bed each night. The Bear has even put in a request for different dresses for her, so she can change her clothes. So, I best get the sewing machine ready!

WILBERRY – THE VERDICT

As you can tell I love this range of toys. My two particular Bears could not be more pleased by the ones that I chose for them. Bronco and Tops have a steady place of residence in Henry’s bed and Mrs Rabbit has already enjoyed a rather impressive number of adventures with Darcie including pumpkin picking last weekend.

I can imagine them being bought for unborn children and placed in nurseries to wait for the arrival of their new friends. To be given to toddlers and go on muddy adventures by day and snuggled in bed by night. In short, these are the kinds of toy that children make memories with and keep with them when they grow up.

  61. These dinosaurs are so cute, I love the fact they are made out of knitted fabric. My son and my granddaughter will have to fight to see who gets the dinosaur if I win!
