One month to go until Just So Festival celebrates its 10th birthday (AD)
If you’ve never heard of Just So before, then it’s definitely one for your summer bucket list. Not only a festival that is suitable for families, but it’s one that’s actually designed for families. We went along for the weekend last year as visitors, but we are thrilled to have been asked to go back again this year as guests. And do you know what, we cannot wait! For a closer look at what Just So has to offer, you can check out our post from 2018.
Taking place over the long weekend of 16/17/18 August, it’s set to be a sell-out. Saturday day tickets have already all gone and there is only limited availability for Friday and Sunday day tickets. However, if you did want to go along for the whole weekend then there are some tickets available without camping.
To get us all in the mood, the Just So festival directors have been sharing their favourite things about Just So 2019 and these are the ones that we couldn’t agree with more!
Enjoy marvellous music
We couldn’t agree with this one more. Live music was a big thing for us in previous years and a real highlight from 2018 was Biscuithead and the Biscuit Badgers. We’re looking forward to not only catching their show in this years line up, but also taking a look at the new additions for 2019.
Get tribal in The Tribal Tournament
When we first went along to Just So back in 2017, it was only for the day and we didn’t dress up. When we saw how much of a big thing it was though, we jumped right in when we went back in 2018 joining the owl tribe. Darcie wants us to switch up this year and join the foxes, but I have high hopes of staying loyal. With regards to the final decision as to which tribe we will join for 2019, well you’ll have to check back with us next month after the festival!
I was excited to learn that Wintercroft – a family-run design company – will be there this year to help visitors make tribal masks from sustainable materials. This is right up our street and I can’t wait to check it out.
Listen to captivating stories
Just So wouldn’t be Just So without some stories around the campfire. It was the first thing we fell in love with all the way back in 2017 and it’s something that we return to year on year. In the wood is our favourite place to be at the festival and we’re looking forward to seeing what they have in the line-up this year.
Put on your dancing shoes
Henry LOVED the silent disco last year and Darcie did her first dance in front of a live audience in the flamingo lounge. Dance is another huge part of the festival and we will be making sure we take our comfy shoes with us this year.
See jaw-dropping circus and outdoor arts
Wherever you turn at Just So you encounter something to be seen. Full of colour and spectacle, there is always something happening somewhere. Some of our favourite moments last year were shows that we just managed to stumble across. So, if you do come along be sure to make time to simply explore and enjoy whatever it is you stumble across.
Experience the best outdoor theatre
Finally, outdoor theatre was by far the Bears biggest highlight of 2018. They were utterly captivated as the followed a family of goldfinches around the forest in their performance of The Lost Words. I can’t wait to see what is waiting for us this year.
We hope to see you there next month!
