The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena
THE BLURB
You never know what’s happening on the other side of the wall.
Your neighbour told you that she didn’t want your six-month-old daughter at the dinner party. Nothing personal, she just couldn’t stand her crying.
Your husband said it would be fine. After all, you only live next door. You’ll have the baby monitor and you’ll take it in turns to go back every half hour.
Your daughter was sleeping when you checked on her last. But now, as you race up the stairs in your deathly quiet house, your worst fears are realized. She’s gone.
You’ve never had to call the police before. But now they’re in your home, and who knows what they’ll find there.
What would you be capable of, when pushed past your limit?
SO, WHO ARE THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR?
The Couple Next Door follows Anne and Marco, who after coming home after a party next door find their 6 month old baby missing. This book left my emotions in complete turmoil. As a mother I could not help but judge both Marco and especially Anne for choosing to leave their daughter at home alone in the house. Yes they were only next door, and yes they had a monitor with them but still…..the horror at someone leaving their baby home alone is tangible. However, on the other hand you cannot but help feel sorry for them in their utter dispair over the actions of their consiquences. Afterall, they’re only human and as parents, we make mistakes.
You think you know who is behind the kidnapping…and then you think you know the twist but this is a book that just keeps giving. You never fully get the whole picture until the very end, and even then there is just one more twist to come. This is definitely one for people who like their thrillers emotional and full of twists.
The Couple Next Door is currently available on Amazon for £4.99 for kindle edition and £5.59 for paperback.

I popped over form the #humpdaylinky and was pleased to read your post because I posted about books too! This book sounds really good – and as you’ll see I love a good plot twist!
