My Winter Capsule Wish List

If you subscribe to me on YouTube, then you will know that I recently splurged on an eBay bundle to top up my capsule wardrobe. My use of eBay was for two reasons: (1) I am looking for ways to be more sustainable and shop more mindfully. Disposable fashion is just one of the ways that consumerism is driving a ridiculous amount of waste from us all. Then, (2) I have not made it a secret on the blog that I am not the size I want to be. Therefore, I see little point in investing money in long lasting pieces to see me through 2 or 3 years. Instead, I wanted a quick fix to fill a few gaping holes I had in my capsule wardrobe for winter without breaking the bank.

Enter the eBay bundle! The added bonus of this little video being a cute little man who likes to pop up from time to time!

 

However, this got me thinking. If I were the size I wanted to be right now, what would I invest in? Well, that was a different situation so off I went for a little online browsing to build my wish list.

What I was looking for when scouring eBay and similar, was a few pairs of jeans as a warmer alternative to the leggings I seem to be wearing continuously. I also wanted some winter dresses to smarten up my wardrobe a little when the urge took me.

DRESSES

For dresses I’ve headed straight to White Stuff as I love their relaxed style – this is a wish list after all. Although I love dresses, I like them in a ‘relaxed, thick tights and boots’ kind of way. Nothing too restrictive or uncomfortable, and if you have the option of dressing it both up and down then all the better. At the moment I am loving their Elsie Butterfly Jersey Dress, their Tess Jersey Dress, and their Sunshine Bird Avery Dress.

JEANS

For jeans I’m heading over to Anthropologie. They have such a great range of styles and fits, you will definitely find something to suit your body shape. I’ve always said that when I get to the size I want to be, I will invest in a couple of pairs of really great quality jeans. The right colour, style and fit I think can do wonders for you.

I am currently in love with the Pilcro Mid-Rise Cropped Relaxed Boyfriend Jeans, the Pilcro High-Rise Skinny Ankle Jeans and these Levi’s 721 High-Rise Skinny Jeans:

Now, you have to agree, all these pieces are gorgeous. An investment I admit, but that’s the point of a capsule wardrobe. Fewer items in your wardrobe but which are of a better quality, timeless and more likely to last for more than just one season.

However, this can be costly. Therefore, my number one tip would be to use discount codes wherever and whenever you can. This will help keep the cost down for you. In fact, in less than 5 minutes I was able to find voucher codes for White Stuff (10% and 15% off) alongside Anthropologie voucher codes (30% and 20% off). So, doing a quick search for discount codes before clicking buy is a great habit to get into.

And that’s it. My wish list for my winter 2018 capsule wardrobe. Unfortunately, a little out of my price range even with discounts for this year considering I plan to no longer be this size this time next year.
